CUSTOMER IN FOCUS - STEPHEN BLOXSOM

Once a month we will be featuring one of our customers in an email about their health and fitness journey and life in general. This month we are featuring Stephen Bloxsom (photo in the Classic Black Tee).

Stephen is from Brisbane, Australia and he is an absolute sports nut and a lover of health and fitness from a very early age as you can see from below:

What got you started on your health and fitness journey?

Early days my parents enrolled me at our local amateur school swim club. I took to swimming as a little bloke from learn to swim into squad training, club nights and carnivals and loved competing. I managed to make several regional teams and the state team for swimming. In more recent years, I have approached distance running with similar enthusiasm. I first got into this in upper primary school due to having endurance from swimming and took a liking to it as I believe there are similarities that can be found. I think families that foster sport participation generally produce athletes that enjoy fitness and make it part of their life.

What motivates you to keep going?

I think I enjoy the hard training and competition with and against others and myself, trying to better my best. Chasing PBs is key. There’s nothing better than beating your best previous mark. Maintaining fitness helps so that you can enjoy your life and have a go at anything.

What tips do you have for someone who is just starting their journey?

Whether it is coming back from injury or some time off, the first two weeks of training is the worst but the most important. Get past that mark and the hurt will heal and you will start to crave the pain and push towards desired results.

What are you daily habits that allow you to exercise and stay on track?

Activity trackers are a good way to acknowledge to yourself and others what you are doing. This keeps you in check with yourself and others keep you in check also. Whether it be a fitness watch or an activity app or calorie counter. Water on waking, decent sleep, calorie in calorie out maintenance and enjoying the little things keeps me grounded.

What are your 2019 health and fitness goals?

In 2019, I am aiming to run three half marathons. I have only ever done 1 half marathon. I set myself this challenge with the hopes of completing it well as I would like to run a full marathon in the near future. If all goes well, I would like to try some of the big city marathons in my lifetime like Boston, New York, London etc.

What do you think of the Maw Active gear?

I have every piece of Maw Active gear and all wears well and looks good. It hasn’t let me down when I’ve wore it in various situations. Keen to get the jumper out again as it gets colder.

What a great journey and some amazing insights into Stephen and thank you for providing some great advice.
